Titled 'DEATH' this painting of mine took 7 months of working continuously 14-16 hours a day to complete. I have delighted in working with acrylics. Four to eight coats have been given for each colour filled. The emotions attached to this painting are very strong and valid.
There was a period in my life when death was a daily opponent I had to face, a period of grave physical illness and mental confusion. A period when realization came to me that death was another living. My 'opponent' soon became my most trusted friend.
Death was comforting without the forces of threat. Death came to me in friendship, serenity, comfort, brightness and warmth. Death was positive and in harmony with the rest of the universe. Death was alive and represented the glory of living.
I have lived through many journeys with Death. My travels have been illuminated with colours I have not experienced and emotions I have never felt. In painting this painting I have tried to express that beauty and positivity. The title 'Death' met with much opposition and I have been asked to rename it 'Rebirth' or 'Life'. So far, I have been unable to do so. Every time I look at this painting it reminds me of my gentle companion and wise friend Death.... and no, I am not suicidal, I do not have a death wish. I celebrate life in all its splendour and in its utter dreariness.
DEATH is about the beauty, glory and strength I have felt to continue my journey in life.

Really like what you have done here & i was just going thru ur blog.I guess the name "Death" is not acceptable because most consider it a negativity rather than anything else but i like your perception and the way it has reflected on your painting. The colours and details are, well, a work of art. They say that a near death experience shows you how beautiful life can be. It couldnt have been potrayed any better.

Sanchita Di, it is interesting to me that you chose (probably not intentionally) colors Blue and Red which are quite further away in the spectrum; reading your observations, to me, it represents a huge distance that you had to travel and live with everyday. The sharp contrast between blue(dark, quiet place) and red(living, full of fire) and the flower emanating from that toil really has some beautiful meaning.

I have used all the colours in the colour wheel with as many hues and tints and the whole possible gamut of what may lie in a spectrum.
I did try to bring about the colours I had observed without much success though.
The blues and reds were not intentional - like many of my canvasses this painting had no planning.Infact, I would often be asked 'Where are you going with this?"
Your last sentence said it all so beautifully. You have the soul of a thinker.
